About Connect Counselling

Why “Connect Counselling”?

Connection implies nourishment, alignment, and wholeness. A lack of it leads to fragmentation.

We’re social animals; relationships are essential to our wellbeing, but they’re becoming harder to sustain. Part of that is a consequence of our culture, which places an emphasis on time alone, but part of it is also because we’re less in touch with ourselves.

The more disconnected we feel, the more feelings of sadness, stress, anxiety, and loneliness build up. Connect Counselling is a space to cultivate intimacy and deep meaningful connection.

My story

Hi, I’m Maitreyi

I’ve been studying Psychology and Neuroscience for over 10 years. I was originally drawn to the field following an early lecture on infant attachment theory, and a decade later I continue my work in attachment through an understanding of adult relationships.

Attachment, along with the interactional, sociocultural, organizational, intrapsychic, and intergenerational processes, are layers I use to understand the multidimensionality that contributes to behaviour—why we behave the way we do, what got us to this place, and how we can get closer to the individuals we want to be given our unique set of experiences.

Clients tell me they appreciate and clearly see the work I put into each session. Each individual is different, and therefore so is each case. Because of my interest in research, I do incorporate psychoeducation whenever possible. This works best for clients who want to understand their patterns and behaviours within a context—knowing what is happening, and why it’s happening at a particular instance.

Please contact me if you have any questions I can help answer.
